Okay, it is true, we have written two past blogs about Lindsay Lohan and Samantha Ronson and their Rolex watches. However, the situation just keeps getting stranger and stranger, demanding updates to the ongoing story. When Lindsay Lohan dropped $53,000 on a watch-shopping spree at Philippe’s Watches & Jewelry in Beverly Hills, we reported that she spent her own money. According to sources, the actress dropped the 53K in about 45 minutes–on three Rolex watches. The watches included one Rolex rose-gold President watch with a diamond dial (retail price at $30,000), one Daytona stainless steel and yellow-gold watch with a black mother-of-pearl dial at $15,000. The third was a gift, a stainless steel Rolex with black diamond skull in the center at $8,000. We have learned, however, Lindsay actually did not spend or even have the money. It was her lover Samantha Ronson who anted up big-time, and she quickly is becoming fed up with Lindsay Lohan’s wild spending habits. Lindsay Lohan reportedly is down to her last few dollars, with no film project in sight, over-spending habits and dependency on her lover Samantha Ronson for handouts. “She has no cash. The problem is, the money being spent is mostly Sam’s because Lindsay doesn’t really have any of her own at the moment; she’s really taken on the “man” role in their romance. Sam really thinks Lindsay needs to learn how to become a recessionista and manage her money better,” her friend told The New York Daily News. Evidence that the unemployed actress has been spending above her means includes the new Rolex watches from an ultra-expensive Beverly Hills boutique ($53,000) and a new Maserati (over $145,000). Not that Lindsay Lohan likes being out of work, especially with such an appetite for spending: “It’s scary when you realize, ‘Oh my God, I’m not working. And I have a house to pay for now’.”

Despite these fears, Lindsay Lohan is sick of being tabloid fodder. In a chat with E!, the actress reacted to recent reports that she is penniless and to the rumors that she and galpal Samantha Ronson fight all the time about money. “They need to stop saying we’re fighting,” the I Know Who Killed Me star tells E! News, “I’m really a good person and I have a good heart. . . . I don’t drink, I don’t do drugs and I don’t lie.” Lindsay Lohan, who reportedly is having trouble getting any acting jobs, says, “I want to help people by playing characters that can send a positive message out to whomever may need it.” Whatever the truth, Lindsay Lohan’s troubles underscore just how hard it can be for celebrities to live up to the fancy-dancy life they come to expect. According to financial planners, the rich and famous often fail to plan for the fact that their income is unstable, often peaking early in life, as well as stand up to the many hangers-on that ask for support. As Samantha Ronson walked her bulldog, Lohan headed straight for Phillip Jewelry in Beverly Hills. Together, the pair spent hours examining and trying on several Rolex watches. In the end, they both walked away with two new Rolexes charged to Lohan’s credit card. Lindsay bought a smaller ladies Rolex while Samantha opted for the bigger men’s Rolex. The question which has to be asked is whether these Rolex watches were an impulse buy or were special presents the two planned to purchase together upon their return to Los Angeles. Did Lindsay Lohan and Samantha Ronson give each other Rolex watches as belated Valentine’s Day gifts?

Since the Rolex watches were purchased a few days after Valentine’s Day, such a question normally would not be asked. However, on Valentine’s Day, Samantha Ronson was scheduled to host and spin at Passions, a late-night club connected to Hollywood, Florida’s Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino. In New York City, the couple revealed that they were too sick to travel. “We really feel bad, and I work sick when I can, but unfortunately I couldn’t drive to Miami, so I’m stuck in New York City with doctor’s orders not to fly,” Ronson revealed to People magazine. “Any reports otherwise are false and unfair.”  Later this report was confirmed by the marketing director for the popular club:  “Lindsay and Samantha stayed out late last night in New York City, and are not feeling well,” Amanda Senoff, director of marketing for Passions. “A doctor said Sam was too sick with the flu to travel and Lindsay is also feeling sick. They are both sick with ear infections. Sam needs her ears, and flying with an ear infection is a risk that she can’t really afford to take.”

If they were too sick to travel, then they probably were too sick to celebrate Valentine’s Day. As a result, it makes utter sense that they would celebrate upon their return to Los Angeles, also known as home sweet home. If Lindsay Lohan and Samantha Ronson did make this choice, then what better Valentine’s Day gifts could they give each other than Rolex watches, even if Lindsay paid for them on her credit card? After all, even if Samantha Ronson is a major DJ, Lindsay Lohan is still the Hollywood superstar who brings home the big bucks. Mind you, if you want to buy a Rolex watch for your lover, you do not have to spend Beverly Hills prices. A question that must be asked is whether the famous and infamous Hollywood star Lindsay Lohan has more Rolex watches or more love affairs with both men and women? There is little question amid the multitude of voices in today’s popular culture that Lindsay Lohan is a talented performer. Recently, however, Lohan’s most dramatic and eye-catching performances have taken place in her so-called private life. Her supposed committed gay relationship with Samantha Ronson went nuclear in the Miami airport over the New Year holiday with the two young women viciously screaming at each other. The Los Angeles Times reported hysterics and drama to the point where a flight attendant on American Airlines asked if they would like to disembark. Later, after they arrived and returned to their home in the Hollywood Hills, neighbors reported more screaming and glasses shattering. It is lucky Lindsay was not wearing her Rolex Daytona because the luxury watch would make quite a projectile weapon if thrown and not worn.

If Lindsay Lohan actually used her Rolex Daytona as a weapon, it most likely would have survived the impact. Rolex professional watches are known for their strength and endurance, even a gold and jeweled watch like Lindsay’s Daytona. Still, if Lindsay Lohan managed to actually damage her Rolex Daytona, she would have several more Rolex watches to choose from in her own personal collection. Lindsay Lohan tends to prefer wearing oversized Men’s Rolexes in both stainless steel and yellow gold. Yes, Lindsay is known for going through relationships these days faster than she checks in and out of rehabs. Beginning with Ronson, these relationships now include both women and men, which should continue in the future. Since Lindsay has been photographed in the past wearing more than one Rolex at a time and as many as three, there is no question that she loves the fashion and power that a Rolex watch represents in the popular culture. So does she have more Rolex watches than relationships, and is she willing to sacrifice her Rolex watches as projectile weapons whenever she breaks up with a lover?

Okay, more than a touch of irony is expressed in that last question. Hopefully, Lindsay will see the quality and precision reflected in each Rolex watch, and then attempt to mirror that quality and precision in her own life. In 2009, it is time for the talented performer to shift her performances away from her private life and return the drama and talent to her professional career. Lindsay Lohan’s love of Rolex watches reveals her inherent taste and respect for true quality. Now Lindsay has to learn to respect and love herself.
