The Rolex brand is what it is today because it has withstood the test of time literally and figuratively. Rolex has had to compete with other watch brands the world around but it has emerged the winner because it understands that a watch is not only a keeper of time but an emblem of endurance as well. Landon Donovan’s contribution to US Soccer needs little introduction and the California born superstar reflects the Rolex brand’s ability to face challenges when and where they come.
Landon Donovan plays as a withdrawn forward, on the left wing and is currently playing with Los Angeles Galaxy alongside David Beckham in Major League Soccer (MLS). He is also the all time leader in scoring for the United States national team and has the most caps of all active players. He is also the only player to have won the Honda Player of the Year award five times.
Starting out to play soccer from a very young age Landon received the Golden Ball in the 1999 U-17 World Championship. He went on to sign up with Bayer Leverkusen making news as the youngest American ever to sign with a foreign club. Donovan was loaned to San Jose Earthquakes and led the team to the MLS Cup championships in the years 2001 and 2003. He was rightly named the US Soccer Athlete of the year in both 2003 and 2004.
Landon started playing for home team Los Angeles Galaxy and in the very first season added twelve goals and ten assists to support his team to win his third MLS Championship. Donovan’s prowess on the field got him a place in the MLS All Time Best XI when the season ended. Donovan is second only to Carlos Ruiz in being MLS’ all time leading scorer in playoffs. 2008 proved to be a headlining year for Donovan, scoring twenty goals and nine assists in twenty five games, Donovan shone through the Galaxy’s dark times.

During the summer of 2008 Donovan was put on loan to Bayern Munich, a move that he was looking forward to because of the experience that playing with an international club of Munich’s repute gave to any player. He debuted by playing for a whole ninety minutes and assisting a goal on January 10 against the Al-Jazira club. His first goal for Bayern Munich was against Al-Wehda. Both matches were friendly and Donovan made his competitive debut for Bayern Munich leading his team to victory over Stuttgart in the DFB-Pokal in January 2009.
Donovan’s stint with the US Soccer team has been more successful. He got his first cap against Mexico in 2000. Landon also received two third place votes for FIFA World Player of the Year. Landon reached a record 100 caps at the age of twenty six in June 2008. The player is in talks to return to his home team soon.
The Rolex Explorer II is a superlative chronometer. The watch takes the former Rolex Explorer experience to an entirely new level. The watch is highly efficient and has a dual date display system. There is a 24 hour fixed bezel and a special 24 hour hand that is to be set to enable time reading in different time zones. With the Explorer II you can also distinguish between day and night hours. The dial of the watch is 40 mm and white in color. The self wound watch is waterproof to100 meters and is crystallized in sapphire. The Rolex Explorer II and Landon Donovan join forces because they are indestructible and heroes of the dark times.
