Rolex Sydney Hobart Yacht Race 2009

The year 2009 is an important year for the organizers of the Rolex Sydney Hobart Yacht Race as it is going to be the 65th running of the event. The enthusiasm among the sailors to participate in this extravagant regatta is so high that within just a few hours of the announcement of the event, the first four entries were received by the Cruising Yacht Club of Australia. Rolex Kentucky Three Day Event; Rescheduling Dates For The Future

Rolex Kentucky Three Day Event

Rolex is a brand name that is far beyond just manufacturing watches. Apart from delivering watches that are par excellence, Rolex has been contributing a lot towards the progress of humanity. The number of events that it sponsors every year has been successful in uniting people from all over the world. One of the many such events is the Rolex Kentucky Three Day Event. It is an eventing competition and as the name implies it is held in Kentucky at the Kentucky Horse Park. It is the only four star show in the US and the level of competition that is involved in this spectacular event is considered to be as high as eventing at the Olympics. Kentucky Three Day Event has attained the similar status as that of Rolex in terms of popularity and class. The total prize money of the event is a lavish $190,000 which gets distributed among the top rankers of the event. The first place horse and rider also get a precious Rolex watch apart from an amount of $65000.

The three-day event was first organized in 1998 by the Equestrian Events Inc. and with it a new era began in the history of eventing. It usually occurs in the month of April or May and includes competitions like dressage, cross-country and show-jumping and although the name of the event specifies three days but owing to the large number of entries that is received every year, the event continues to take place over four days. With every new season, the number of participants and spectators began to increase tremendously and with it the prize money too reached unbelievable heights.

The popularity of the event and with it the level of competition rose to such a level that in 2000, it became the first Four Star rated event of the new millennium. Rolex Kentucky was the world’s only event to have the primary Olympic Officials as Ground Jury, Technical Delegate and Course Designer and it also became the primary U.S. Equestrian Team Olympic Games Selection Trial.

Lucinda Fredericks

In the year 2009, woman riders dominated the entire event. Australia’s Lucinda Fredericks went on to become the big winner after a double-clear round in show jumping, finishing on their dressage score of 32.3. Another woman from Germany called Bettina Hoy went to take the second position with her 18 year old Irish Sport Horse and a final score of 38.4.

At times due to date clashes between some of the popular sporting events, the number of spectators began to divide. Keeping this important fact in mind the organizers of Rolex Kentucky Three Day Event and the Mitsubishi Motors Badminton Horse Trials have decided to reschedule their dates for the coming seven years. The dates have been organized in such a way that if in one year Rolex Kentucky Three Day Event is held in the month of April, Badminton starts in the month of May. In this way spectators of both the events can enjoy them with full enthusiasm and excitement without having to suffer from the problem of date clashes.

As a champion for the cause of pursuing excellence, Rolex is proud to continually support the most popular equestrian competition in the world, the Rolex Kentucky Three Day Event.
