Wearing Rolex Watches And Driving In The Rolex 24, Tim Allen Is A Rolex Kind Of Guy

Galaxy QuestWhether he is wearing a Rolex Daytona on and off the big screen or he is racing in the Rolex 24, Tim Allen is a Rolex kind of guy. Since the very beginning, when he was struggling to succeed in Hollywood, Tim Allen believed in owning a Rolex watch. In 1984, Tim Allen married his college sweetheart, Laura Diebel, and she helped to provide for the couple when Tim Allen was an up-and-coming comic. During those early days, thanks to her work and Tim Allen’s commercials, they lived in a beautiful home, wore nice clothes, drove expensive cars, and Tim Allen sported a Rolex watch. Later, Tim Allen paid back the faith of his first wife and their two beautiful daughters in spades when he became a film and television superstar with Home Improvement on the tube and The Santa Clause on the big screen. In his later spoof of Star Trek, the hit film Galaxy Quest, Tim Allen’s William Shatner/Captain Kirk-like character Jason Nesmith/ Commander Taggart wears a Rolex SS Cosmograph Daytona. For Tim Allen’s character, the Rolex Daytona represents the essence of his success as an actor. When the actors are taken from the bland reality of sci-fi conventions to the fantastic reaches of outer space, the only piece of wardrobe that Tim Allen’s character retains is the Rolex Daytona. After all, it does not matter whether you are on earth or in outer space because a Rolex watch remains an innovative mechanical marvel.

Tim AllenRecently, in David Mamet’s 2008 fighting film Red Belt, Tim Allen plays a supporting character that uses a Rolex watch to entice the young hero into the illegal fight game. Beyond just wearing a Rolex, the watch becomes an integral part of the story development. In the beginning of the film, Hollywood star Chet Frank (Tim Allen) walks into a raucous club and is soon embroiled in a brawl with local toughs. The hero of the film, Mike Terry (Chiwetel Ejiofor), comes to his rescue and saves Chet Frank from certain disaster before slipping off into the night. The next day Mike Terry receives an expensive thank you gift in the form of a Rolex watch and a dinner invitation from the man he rescued the night before, Chet Frank. However, soon the happy story starts to unravel for Mike, beginning when he finds out that the Rolex watch originally given to him by Chet Frank is actually stolen property taken from a police lock-up. In truth, Chet Frank (Tim Allen) simply has used the Rolex watch as a lure to bring Mike into the world of illegal fighting. Whether he was wearing a Rolex watch in his personal life or playing a character that flashes a Rolex watch on the big screen, Rolex always has been a major part of Tim Allen’s life.

Tim AllenIn the path of his success on and off the big screen, Tim Allen embraced Rolex in a completely new way when he began to race cars in Rolex-sponsored events. Tim Allen took up car racing as a true passion, and he was proud to race in the Rolex 24 at the Daytona Speedway in September of 1997. Tim Allen has always been a big fan of motor racing, and he is an especially big fan of Indy racing. Tim Allen reflects on the experience of professional car racing: “It is great to be there, going so fast, all you care about is getting round that next corner, shoving on the gas, getting round the next corner. Nothing else really matters at that point” Tim Allen has proven that he is a real “car guy” with Tim Allen/Saleen RRRRacing, his very own racing team. Like television star and Rolex enthusiast Patrick Dempsey, Tim Allen has taken part in many professional competitions, including the Rolex 24 at Daytona, the ultimate in racing endurance and strength. Whether he is wearing a Rolex watch on his wrist or racing in a Rolex-sponsored event, Tim Allen is your all-around Rolex kind of guy.

Sailor Genny Tulloch Wins The 2009 Rolex Women’s Match

Genny TullochIn line with company tradition beyond creating the very finest in luxury watches, Rolex supported the best in racing by sponsoring the 2009 Rolex Women’s Match, which was won by Genny Tulloch. Harvard-based racer Genny Tulloch from Tiburn, California and her crack team sailed away with victory in the 2009 Rolex Women’s Match, hosted April 9-12 by the St. Petersburg Yacht Club in St. Petersburg, Florida. Genny Tulloch, ranked #1 on the United States Sailing Team AlphaGraphics, sailed with her Rhode Island-based crew that came together right before the race and came through with flying colors, including Liz Hall, Jamie Haines and Chafee Emory. Altogether, a total of 10 teams competed in the International Sailing Federation (ISAF) Grade 3 match-racing regatta, which was created in 2002 to improve opportunities for women sailors specifically interested in match racing. With the win, the #43 world-ranked Genny Tulloch, along with second-place finisher, rugged Debbie Capozz from Bayport, New York, gained an automatic invitation to the Rolex Osprey Cup, an ISAF Grade 1 regatta, to be held October 21-24, at the St. Petersburg Yacht Club. “The regatta was really good for us,” said Genny Tulloch as she waited to board a flight to Charleston Race Week. “It is the first time my team has sailed together. There was a lot of stuff we needed to work on; coming out of it in the lead on the last day was awesome.”

Genny TullochTwo round robins – where one-on-one matches count for either a win or a loss – were completed over the course of the three days of competition from Thursday to Saturday. Frustratingly, on Sunday, there simply was not enough wind to complete another round. Putting on their thinking caps and making an executive decision, the St. Petersburg Yacht Club Race Committee, under the leadership of Pat Seidenspinner and Tom Farquhar, called it a day. Impressively, Genny Tulloch went undefeated in all 18 of her matches and with that perfect record, she was declared the 2009 Rolex Women’s Match champion. Although Tulloch may have made winning look easy, it was far from it. In truth, it was a challenging race from beginning to end with each day presenting new problems in terms of weather conditions. “The conditions were interesting for match racing,” Genny Tulloch commented, “The wind was puffy, so we all had to keep our heads out of the boat. At times, we had to stop match racing and start fleet racing. We were sailing the shifts and covering our competitors. It got easier with our communications getting better. We really focused on keeping our heads out of the boat. If we were close at the start, we weren’t necessarily using match-racing tactics the way you would in non-shifty conditions. This wasn’t the easiest racecourse so we had to make sure we kept it together.” St. Petersburg Yacht Club hosted dinners on Thursday and Saturday evenings for all of the competitors, race committee, umpires and competitors housing hosts. The Rolex Women’s Match at the St. Petersburg Yacht Club joins other prestigious Rolex-sponsored events including the Rolex Miami OCR, Maxi Yacht Rolex Cup, Rolex Fastnet Race, Rolex Farr 40 World Championship, Block Island Race Week presented by Rolex, the Rolex Big Boat Series, Rolex International Women’s Keelboat Championship and the Rolex Sydney Hobart Yacht Race. If there is one-thing sailors around the world can depend on, Rolex will come through to keep the sport viable whenever sponsorship is in question. Believing in the tradition of racing and history of yachtsmanship, Rolex supports first-class competitors like Genny Tulloch, allowing them to demonstrate their skills in the finest of competitive arenas.

A Rolex Watch On The Big Screen Produces Sharon Stone’s Passion For Rolex

Sharon StoneWhen Sharon Stone wore a men’s stainless steel Rolex Submariner with a black dial in Sphere, the sci-fi event film based on Michael Crichton’s best-selling novel, she developed a true passion for Rolex watches. What is so intriguing about Sharon Stone’s passion is that she developed a true attachment to the specific Rolex watch model that she wore in the film. When an actor shoots a film, they have nothing to do with the choice of their costume or accessories. Those specific character choices begin with the screenwriter and end with the director who communicates the final decisions through the costume designer. Often, the costume designer or a prop specialist will present a range of accessory choices to the director to choose from for the lead characters. In a star vehicle, the actor will have a certain degree of input, particularly if the film is a drama or a comedy. In a big-budget sci-fi movie like Sphere with special effects, the actor would have no say whatsoever in picking their Rolex watch. Instead, the Rolex watch would reflect the needs of the story.

SphereSince Sphere was an ultra-expensive studio event film that takes place in an underwater base, a Rolex submariner was a perfect choice for Sharon Stone’s character, Dr. Elizabeth “Beth” Halpern, a marine biologist and biochemist. Wikipedia describes the opening and the setting of Sphere as follows: “In the middle of the southern Pacific Ocean, a thousand feet below the surface, what is believed to be an alien spacecraft is discovered after a ship laying transocean cable has its cable cut and the United States Navy investigates the cause. The thickness of coral growth on the spaceship suggests that it has been there for almost 300 years. A team made up of a marine biologist, a mathematician, an astrophysicist, a psychologist and a member of the U.S. Navy is tasked with investigating the spaceship. The team (along with two navy technicians) are housed in a state-of-the-art underwater living environment called the Habitat during their stay on the ocean floor.” Given such a context, it further makes sense that the character would wear a men’s stainless steel Rolex Submariner with a black dial. Just reading the last sentence, such a Rolex watch sounds like it should be on the wrist of an action-adventure hero. The choice to have the character of Dr. Elizabeth “Beth” Halpern wear such a Rolex definitely was not made by Sharon Stone, but probably by Michael Crichton in the original novel, that was the source material for the screenplay. If Michael Crichton or the screenwriter did not specify the watch design, then director Barry Levinson and made the choice with the costume designer.

Sharon StoneQuestion: Why go into such detail about the choice of a Rolex watch for a character in a movie that was released over a decade ago? Good question: The answer is that a decade later, Sharon Stone still is wearing a stainless steel Rolex Submariner with a black dial. Clearly, during the making of what can be called a somewhat forgettable Hollywood blockbuster, she fell in love with her character’s wardrobe, specifically the Rolex watch. Whether she actually was given the wardrobe watch by the studio, which seems doubtful or whether she later bought a Rolex Submariner for herself, Sharon Stone became a Rolex enthusiast and a Submariner devotee during the shooting of the movie. Seven years after Sphere was released, on the French cover of Elle in 2005, Sharon Stone is wearing a men’s stainless steel Rolex Submariner with a black dial. Clearly, once you have the opportunity to wear a classic Rolex watch on your wrist like the stainless steel Rolex Submariner with a black dial, you will be won over for good and there is no going back to second-rate watches. Once converted to Rolex when her character wore a Rolex Submariner in Sphere, Sharon Stone became a true Rolex devotee.

The Innovation And Philanthropy Of Michael Dell Is A Reflection Of His Rolex Yacht-Master

Michael DellAmerican entrepreneur and philanthropist Michael Dell wears a Rolex Yacht-Master that reflects his innovative style of business and his dedication to giving back. Michael Dell is the chairman of the Board of Directors and chief executive officer of Dell, the company he founded in 1984 with $1,000 and an unprecedented idea - to build relationships directly with customers. In the same way that Rolex created watches to withstand and operate flawlessly under any physical conditions, Michael Dell allowed the customer to customize their computer before it was custom built to their specifications. When you consider the invention of Rolesium by Rolex for the Yacht-Master, Michael Dell’s choice to wear the watch falls right into place. Rolesium is a combination of stainless steel and platinum, the term being patented by Rolex in 1932. The Rolesium mix of platinum and stainless steel in the Rolex Yacht-Master mirrors the business philosophy of Michael Dell: If you are willing to innovate for the customer, the customer will come to you. Along with Bill Gates, Michael Dell helped to revolutionize the computer industry in the 1980s. From his university dorm, Michael Dell started building and selling personal computers from stock computer parts. The idea that set the young entrepreneur apart from others was to sell directly to the customer, rather than going through a third party to sell his products. In 1988, Dell Computer Corporation had an initial public offering (IPO) that valued the company at roughly $80 million. By 1992 Dell Computer Corporation was listed on the Fortune 500 list of the five hundred largest companies in the world, making Michael Dell the youngest ever CEO to head a Fortune 500 company. In 1992, Michael Dell became the youngest CEO ever to earn a ranking on the Fortune 500. Michael Dell has published his partly autobiographical book “Direct From Dell: Strategies That Revolutionized an Industry”. The book is written in an entertaining, fast paced style that explains how Dell turned his $1000 company into a mega-corporation worth more than $100 billion. “We are at the dawn of the connected era and Dell has never been better positioned to meet the needs of the billions of people who will join us online in the coming years,” said Michael Dell. “By establishing clear priorities for growth in consumer, emerging countries, notebooks, small and medium business and the enterprise, we will deliver the products and solutions customers need to simply connect, communicate and collaborate.”

Michael DellLike the philanthropic vision of Bill Gates and Hans Wilsdorf, Michael Dell believes in giving back by using his tremendous wealth to help and benefit those in need. Michael and his wife Susan are committed to improving the lives of children in the United States of America and internationally. Michael and Susan Dell established the Michael & Susan Dell Foundation in 1999. The gift was inspired by their passion for supporting children’s causes as a way to make an even greater difference in a measurable way, particularly for those children living in urban poverty. To date, the Michael & Susan Dell Foundation has committed more than $530 million to assist nonprofit organizations working in major urban communities in the United States and India. A letter from Susan and Michael Dell states that the role of the foundation is to focus on “…quality education and good health for children. We recognize that these issues are directly connected. If children have the tools they need to take care of their bodies and minds now, their potential for success in the future is greatly increased.” When you combine the philanthropy with his entrepreneurial innovation, Michael Dell’s choice of a Rolex Yacht-Master seems like a foregone conclusion. Both Rolex and the Yacht-Master mirror the very best that Michael Dell has to offer as both an entrepreneur and a philanthropist.

In Beverly Hills, Michael Jackson Shops For A Rolex Watch

Michael JacksonWith all his challenges and financial problems, Michael Jackson still loves to buy Rolex watches. The King of Pop was recently spotted shopping with his son Prince Michael. In order to keep track of the dissolution of his former residence, Neverland Ranch, he bought a Rolex watch in Beverly Hills. Neverland Ranch is being auctioned piece by piece to pay off the singer’s huge debts. Still, even in the face of such a crisis, Michael Jackson found the time to shop for a new Rolex watch, showing that his taste for the very best in luxury watches remains intact. After he went on a vacation to Bermuda with child star Macaulay Culkin in 1991, Michael Jackson gave him a gold Rolex watch, engraved “From Michael Jackson” with the year 1991 or 1992. For years, Michael Jackson has bought Rolex watches for himself, his family and his friends, revealing a true and consistent love of the Rolex brand. In 1996, Michael Jackson announced that Deborah Rowe, an assistant to his dermatologist, was pregnant with his child. The couple was married in Australia soon after the announcement, and she subsequently gave birth to a son, Prince Michael Jackson Jr. A daughter, Paris Michael Katherine, was born in the spring of 1998. In 2002, under a veil of secrecy, a second son named Prince Michael II was added to the brood. Whenever Michael goes shopping for a Rolex in Beverly Hills, he takes one of the Prince Michaels with him along with a bevy of bodyguards.

michael jacksonBad and Dangerous in reality to some, the King of Pop, Michael Jackson remains one of the greatest singers and dancers who has redefined the pop culture. In 1979, Michael Jackson released the extraordinarily successful album Off the Wall; this record included the hit singles “Rock With You” and “Don’t Stop ‘Til You Get Enough” and eventually sold some 10 million copies. Michael Jackson’s next album, Thriller, was a quantum leap for him both creatively and commercially. Produced by Quincy Jones, the recording spanned a number of pop genres—cannily enlisting rock guitar idol Eddie Van Halen to play a solo on “Beat It,” for example, guaranteed access to listeners Jackson might not otherwise have reached. The album fired a record-setting seven Top 10 singles up the charts, notably the title track, the insinuating “Billie Jean,” and the raucous “Beat It.” The state-of-the-art videos that accompanied these singles, meanwhile, coincided with the sudden dominance of Music Television (MTV). Michael Jackson’s distinctive “Moonwalk” won him an even vaster audience. Thriller went on to become the bestselling album of all time and garnered an unprecedented eight Grammy Awards. In addition, Michael Jackson was a crucial player in the all-star benefit project We Are the World, which sought to combat hunger in Africa. Even when beset by rumor and scandal — and such has been the situation for much of his career — Michael Jackson has managed to translate adversity into even greater fame. Despite the numerous allegations, settlements and acquittals over the years, Michael’s personal life remains a mystery to his fans and people worldwide. However, Michael Jackson’s contribution to the world of pop and dance are irreplaceable and irrevocable. At the very least, Michael Jackson reveals that he has good taste by shopping for a Rolex watch with his son. Moreover, this Pop Legend still has a strong foothold on a multitude of music lovers all over the globe. It is therefore not a surprise we have his chartbusters playing in all the leading discos even today and Michael Jackson wannabes are still trying to perfect the Moonwalk and wear a Rolex watch just like their flawed idol.

Two of A Kind — Phil Collins And The Platinum Rolex Yacht-Master

Phil CollinsSuperstar performer Phil Collins and his platinum Rolex Yacht-Master are two of a kind, true originals with multiple talents. Unlike his old friend Eric Clapton who prefers wearing a Rolex Daytona from his enormous collection of Rolex watches, Phil Collins chooses the platinum Rolex Yacht-Master. Indeed, the Rolex Yacht-Master in Rolesium is a watch that perfectly matches the personality of the multi-talented performer. The platinum Rolex Yacht-Master originally came onto the market after the original Rolex Yacht-Master.

A year after the introduction of the two-tone versions, Rolex took one more step ahead in the form of a new model of Yacht-Master that was made available in Rolesium. Rolesium is a combination of stainless steel and platinum, the term being patented by Rolex in 1932.

Eric ClaptonThis model of the Rolex Yacht-Master was an instant hit in the market, its success even being comparable to the success of Eric Clapton’s favorite, the stainless steel Daytona. The success of new Rolex Yacht-Master directly can be attributed to the stainless steel and platinum finish that provides the watch with a unique look when compared to other Rolex watches. In addition, since Rolex produces the model in limited numbers, it has become exclusive and desirable. The Rolesium mix of platinum and stainless steel in the Rolex Yacht-Master makes it the perfect watch for a performer like Phil Collins. In his career, Phil Collins has balanced rock and pop, acting and scoring to achieve multiple levels of fame and acclaim. During the Live Aid charity event in 1985, Phil Collins flew from London to New York on the Concorde, becoming the only artist to perform in both the European and American incarnations of the concert. Like Rolex, Phil Collins would stop at nothing when it came to reaching out and helping the world.

Phil Collins
With a remarkable combination of middle-of-the-road appeal, talent, and vision that has produced some of the better music of his time, composer-singer-drummer-actor Phil Collins has made an indelible impact on the entertainment industry. Truly one of the hardest working men in show business, Phil Collins has written for and performed with two legendary and vastly different bands, found great success as a solo artist and nursed a budding acting career, all at the same time. While considering himself a drummer above all else, the musician has written some of the most memorable songs in contemporary pop music and has proven a powerful and universally recognizable singer. Phil Collins spent most of his early entertainment life as a young actor and model. He played the “Artful Dodger” in the West End production of “Oliver”. Phil Collins later successfully auditioned for Genesis, taking over vocals for Peter Gabriel when he left the band in 1975. Because of his unfaltering dedication to his craft and his place in Genesis, Phil Collins managed to win both popular success and the respect of fellow musicians. He hit the top of the pop charts with “Against All Odds” and “In The Air Tonight” while also being called upon to perform with such modern legends like good friend and Rolex enthusiast Eric Clapton as well as Sting, Robert Plant and Quincy Jones. His musical credibility and capability have served well many a film that has procured his songwriting services. The use of Phil Collins’s music in the Walt Disney film Tarzan went in a different direction than past-animated Disney features. Instead of the character’s singing the songs, Phil Collins acted almost as a narrator, with the songs as background accompaniment and the lyrics serving to forward the story lines. The touching lullaby “You’ll Be In My Heart” lived up to the Disney standard for memorable theme songs. Phil Collins went on to receive two Academy Awards for Tarzan - Best Film Score and Best Original Song for “You’ll Be In My Heart”. Ultimately, with both Phil Collins and the platinum Rolex Yacht-Master, you receive nothing less than the best of two worlds: quality and precision, music and film, talent and legend.

Jay-Z Set the Stage With His Rolex Masterpiece

Jay-zWith a Rolex Masterpiece on his wrist and superstar wife Beyoncé by his side, Jay-Z is the king of the modern music world as a hip-hop star and powerful executive. At the turn of the century in 1999, Jay-Z was spending the summer in style in the Hamptons. When New York Magazine wrote a cover story about the rapper in the heart of the American Waspland, Jay-Z was proud to wear his brand new Rolex Masterpiece on his wrist. When asked about the watch, Jay-Z smiled with a secret pride. “It’s a Masterpiece Rolex,” Jay-Z said demurely, allowing an inspection of the diamond-studded watch twinkling on his wrist. “I was, like, the first one in the country with it. I try to stay on top of things. It’s a little hobby, know what I’m saying? I read the Robb Report, the duPont Registry, things like that. I tend not toward expensive — more toward exclusive.” Goose Creek, the Wainscott mansion Jay-Z settled on for a two-weekend rental in July, was not exactly the Maidstone Club, the heart of the Hamptons old money power scene: “It’s the Hilton of the Hamptons,” scoffed a society matron back in the day. “I felt like a little kid in a big haunted house in there,” said Jay-Z, laughing. The $20 million, 30,000-square-foot, Italianate stucco house sits on eight-and-a-half acres of land and is equipped with an indoor-outdoor pool, tennis courts, a spa, a 120-seat screening room, and a canoe and rowboat to tool around Georgica Pond (which is shared by Steven Spielberg, among other players). Former renters include Madonna, Warren Beatty, and Kevin Costner. Meg Ryan and Ed Burns were neighbors of Jay-Z that summer, and Sandra Bullock was next door in the estate’s smaller farmhouse, known as Main Street. However, Jay-Z was the only human being in the Hamptons that summer with a brand new Rolex Masterpiece on his wrist, reflecting his amazing success.

Jay-ZEmbodying the rags-to-riches rap dream, Jay-Z pulled himself up by his bootstraps as a youth to eventually become the reigning rapper of New York City and, in turn, a major-label. In the wake of his 1996 debut, Reasonable Doubt, Jay-Z’s albums sold millions upon millions with each release, and his endless parade of hits made him omnipresent on urban radio and video television. In addition, Jay-Z has been loyal to Rolex watches throughout his career, wearing a stainless steel Rolex Day-Date on the cover of In My Lifetime, Volume I. The hip-hop artist retains a strongly devoted fan base and challenges whatever rivals attempted to oust him from atop the rap game, sparing most memorably with Nas. Jay-Z and his Roc-a-Fella associates greatly influenced the industry and established many of the trends that pervaded during the late ’90s and early 2000s. He collaborated with the hottest rappers in the industry, everyone from East Coast contemporaries like the Notorious B.I.G. (”Brooklyn’s Finest”) and DMX (”Cash, Money, Hoes”), to the best rappers from the South like Ludacris and the West Coast like Snoop Dogg. Later, Jay-Z accepted an offer to assume the role of president at Def Jam Records. The seminal rap label was struggling and needed someone to guide it through a rocky transitional phase. Jay-Z embraced the challenge and took over the company began Russell Simmons and Rick Rubin roughly 20 years earlier. Considerable fanfare met the presidential inauguration, as Jay-Z became one of the few African-American major-label executives in the business, and he became one of the few rappers to transition into that side of the business. Numerous rappers owned or operated their own boutique labels, but none had ever risen to such major-label heights. In addition, the rapper-turned-president did not take his job lightly, either, at least judging by his initial year in office. Within months of assuming his position, he fostered a string of newfound, including Rihanna and Young Jeezy. In 2005 Jay-Z came out of retirement for the I Declare War concert in New York City. The ambitious show featured a parade of high-profile guest stars, including P. Diddy and Kanye West. With this longstanding beef squashed, Jay-Z announced he was coming out of retirement for good. He made it official when Kingdom Come hit the shelves in late 2006. Since then, Jay-Z has rocked the music world with a Rolex Masterpiece on his wrist as both a hip-hop star and a visionary music executive.

Star Jack Black From The School Of Rock Attends The School Of Rolex

Jack BlackHollywood comedy star and musician Jack Black, who broke out into stardom in the hit film, The School of Rock, wears a Rolex Daytona with a big smile on his face. With the stainless steel Rolex Daytona on his wrist, Jack Black has been photographed biking around Los Angeles. Born in Santa Monica, California, Jack Black attended the University of California at Los Angeles. While at UCLA, he was a member of Tim Robbins’s acting troupe and it was through this collaboration that led to his 1992 film debut Bob Roberts. Although he was just a background voice in his first film, Jack Black’s breakthrough performance The School of Rock led to his work as a leading Hollywood star. Directed by independent film amateur Richard Linklater, The School of Rock saw him as a failed rocker who, in need of cash, impersonates his roommate and takes a job as a relief teacher in a posh private school. Believing utterly that rock and roll will save your life, he proceeds to preach the power of metal and turns his young charges into a crack band. It is an acceptable substitute for academic and classical work, he reasons, as rock “will test your head and your mind and your brain, too”. The School of Rock was a big hit, taking four times its budget at the box-office. Jack Black was nominated for a Golden Globe award and he won a MTV Movie Award as Best Actor in a Comedy for The School of Rock. Jack Black’s acting career took off, although his success continued to come primarily when he starred as a bumbling, cocky, but internally self-conscious outsider in comedy films. Jack Black is a member of the Frat Pack, a group of comedians who have appeared together in several Hollywood films, and includes Will Ferrell, Vince Vaughn, Steve Carrell and Ben Stiller.

Jack BlackBeyond his fame as a movie star, Jack Black’s rock-comedy band Tenacious D has given him an ever-growing cult following. With his friend Kyle Gass, he makes up one half of the heavy metal music duo. Taking the name Tenacious D from basketball announcer Marv Albert’s description of a tight defense, they band debuted at Al’s Bar in downtown LA in 1994. Beyond their two recorded albums, they managed to star, direct and produce a feature film about the band in 2006. Tenacious D In The Pick Of Destiny follows the duo through their pivotal formation period and their efforts to steal the magical pick of the title from a rock and roll museum. Beyond the self-titled feature film, Tenacious D has filmed an HBO comedy series, a one hour plus documentary, a full length live concert shot in 2007 at the sold-out Moore Theater in Seattle, a classic performance on the 2006 MTV Movie Awards, and an unforgettable performance of “The Metal” on Saturday Night Live. Jack Black and Kyle Gass also made an assault on the DVD charts with Tenacious D: The Complete Masterworks, which would include the HBO series, several short (and quite revolting) films, live footage, and Spike Jones’ video for Wonderboy. With the success of Tenacious D, Jack Black found himself following the advice of his 9th Grade drama teacher Debbie Devine who had told him to not only act, but to write, direct and produce as well. Success in his back pocket, Jack Black cleaned up his act across the board and bought a Rolex Daytona. With the Rolex Daytona on his wrist, Jack Black reveals how stardom has transformed him from a comic fall guy into a major Hollywood star.

Rolex Day Date Super PresidentialRolex masterpiece was the highlight of the auction.

Vibrant international interest came from Germany, Switzerland, Italy, the Russian Federation, and the United States. In addition, there was a powerful internet presence and a healthy turnout of live bidders at the Grand Hotel Kempinski. “The strong interest in our mid-season sale, our first in Geneva this year, confirms the ability for watches and clocks to continue to perform well. We look forward to our May Geneva auction with enthusiasm and anticipation of continued strength in the market,” said Robert Maron, chairman, Antiquorum. Jonas Brothers, The Stars Of The Youth Generation Rock On With Rolex

Jonas BrothersSuperstars of the new youth generation, the Jonas Brothers rock on with their Rolex watches. By choosing Rolex as their favorite watch brand, the Jonas Brothers demonstrate that Rolex will never go out of style. Arguably, the Jonas Brothers are the most popular band in America today with a huge teenage fan base that borders on fanaticism. The Jonas Brothers’ explosive growth as a touring band was affirmed when multiple dates on the North American leg of their upcoming world tour quickly sold out. Fans of the Grammy nominated band purchased over 800,000 tickets, resulting in sold-out arena shows across the country. The Jonas Brothers World Tour 2009 will feature cutting edge technology that will bring the tour to the next level of concert entertainment. The Jonas Brothers gained their popularity from the Disney Channel children’s television network. Hailing from Wycoff, New Jersey, the band consists of three brothers: Kevin Jonas, Joe Jonas, and Nick Jonas.

Jonas BrothersIn the summer of 2008, the band made their film debut in the Disney Channel Original Movie called Camp Rock where they play a band called “Connect Three”. They have released three albums: It’s About Time (2006), Jonas Brothers (2007), and A Little Bit Longer (2008). In 2008, the group was nominated for the Best New Artist award at the 51st Grammy Awards and won the award for Breakthrough Artist at the American Music Awards. By wearing Rolex watches, the Jonas Brothers help to affirm the realization that Rolex is a luxury watch brand that will never go out of style. Their worldwide success has resulted in the boys being listed number 9 on the richest pop acts of 2008, making over sixty-two million dollars.

Jonas BrothersThe Jonas Brothers are known for their wholesome, “family-friendly” image, and the brothers are all committed Evangelical Christians. Their father is a former Assembly of God pastor, and they were home schooled by their mother. In addition, to signify their vow to abstain from premarital sex, on their left-hand ring finger they all wear purity rings. Joe has said that the rings symbolize “a promise to ourselves and to God that we’ll stay pure till marriage,” and Nick had stated that “it’s purity rings pretty awesome, and the rings are just one of our ways of kind of like being different than everybody else out there.” Not only do the three brothers display their purity rings for their young fans, they also show off their Rolex watches, revealing the importance of quality and precision in work and life. Following in the philanthropic footsteps of the Hans Wilsdorf Foundation, the Jonas Brothers have donated 10% of their earnings to their charity, Change for the Children Foundation. Change for the Children Foundation is a foundation started by the Jonas Brothers, where contributors donate to charities and places such as “American Diabetes Foundation”, “Children’s Hospital Los Angeles”, and “Summer Stars: Camp for the Performing Arts”. The band stated that: “We started The Change for the Children Foundation to support programs that motivate and inspire children to face adversity with confidence, determination and a will to succeed. And we think the best people to help children are their peers — kids helping other kids who are a little less fortunate.” Like Hans Wilsdorf and the spirit of Rolex, the Jonas Brothers celebrate their tremendous success by giving back to a world that honors them.
