Rolex and Yachting

Rolex Yachting

Perhaps no sporting event has received more attention from Rolex than Yachting. As a prominent sponsor, Rolex fulfills its objective of associating itself with challenging sports which showcase human excellence and dedication. Many popular and prestigious yachting events are sponsored by Rolex, including the following:

The Rolex Fastnet Race

Held twice a year, this popular offshore yachting race covers a course of over 608 miles. Started in 1926, this event is a real test of strategy and skill amidst tidal currents and erratic weather conditions. The race begins at the Royal Yacht Squadron in Cowes and continues across the Celtic Sea to Fastnet Rock.

Maxi Yacht Rolex Cup

Organized by the yacht club Costa Smeralda every September, this famous yachting event attracts a sizable fleet of majestic yachts to Porto Cervo.

Rolex Middle Sea Race

Since 1968, it has been considered one of the toughest offshore racing events. Starting and finishing at Malta's historic Marsamxetta Harbor, the race takes place around the Italian island of Sicily.

Paul Cayard

ISAF Rolex World Sailor

This prestigious awards ceremony recognizes the top male and female sailors in the world. The participants are selected by the 121 ISAF Member National Authorities from among chosen nominees. Rolex has sponsored this ceremony since its inception.

Rolex Sydney Hobart Yacht Race

For well over half a century, this race has been a prestigious staple of Australia's summer sporting menu. Organized by Cruising Yacht Club of Australia with the cooperation of Royal Yacht Club of Tasmania, Rolex has been the main sponsor for several decades.

Giraglia Rolex Cup

A long distance race covering around 243 nautical miles, it has been highly popular amongst European sailors for the last 50 years. It starts from France and finishes in Italy.

Other yachting events sponsored by Rolex annually are the Rolex Swan Cup, the Sardinia Rolex Cup and the Rolex Farr 40 World Championship. In fact, it is difficult to imagine the sport of modern yacht racing without the support and sponsorship of the Rolex watch company.
