Diamond Shape

 

Pending your personal tastes, the top view of a Diamond can be shaped multiple ways. Different Shapes give Diamonds unique characteristics. Round is the primary cut for a Diamond, maximizing the four C’s – cut, color, clarity and carat weight. Other designs have grown in popularity throughout the years.

Common Diamond Shapes

  • Round:

  • Princess:

    Perfectly squared or slightly rectangular, with strong, defined corners.

  • Radiant:

    Squared or rectangular, but with corners that are more round than princess-shaped diamonds.

  • Oval:

    Similar to Round Diamonds, except more elongated.

  • Emerald:

    Related to the Asscher, a rectangular octagon with a large, flat surface or "table."

  • Asscher:

    Related to the Emerald, a squared octagon with a large, flat surface or "table."

  • Marquise:

    Elongated, similar to the Oval, but with a point at either end.

  • Heart:

    Like the name says, this diamond is shaped like a heart.

  • Pear:

    Hybrid of the Round and Marquise – Round with a point at one end.

  • Cushion:

    Rounded corners with elongated facets. Similar to a "puffed-up pillow."

  • Trillion:

    Triangular-shaped Diamond.
